Support Our Garden Plot at Freetown Farm

In April, CCC broke ground on a 1,350-square-foot community garden plot at Freetown Farm, in partnership with the Community Ecology Institute (CEI). At full capacity, the plot is designed to yield roughly 1,350 pounds of fresh produce a season, picked at peak ripeness and delivered directly to CCC’s food pantries that serve our community.

In its first season, the garden has already produced:

- Nearly 170 pounds of fresh produce for CCC's pantries
- Dozens of volunteer hours contributed by neighbors, from first-time gardeners to experienced growers
- A growing partnership with CEI's Nourishing Gardens program, which has installed 70+ gardens across Howard County

We're raising $10,000 to carry the garden through winterization and into next spring's planting season:

- A dedicated land steward to provide ongoing, hands-on management of the garden
- Winterizing the plot — cover crops and bed preparation to protect the soil through the cold months
- Tools and supplies to replace what's worn and equip the garden for the season ahead
- Seeds for next year's planting
